The Sacred Heart Of Jesus

The Sacred Heart of Jesus statue, with Christ displaying his wounded heart and hands, is one of the most popular images of Jesus, perhaps because it represents his compassion for humanity. Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus dates from the eleventh and twelfth centuries, gaining popularity in the sixteenth century when the feast of the Sacred Heart was first celebrated in France. It is currently celebrated on October 20.
